Indian Border Security Force (BSF) yesterday shot dead a Bangladeshi cattle trader on Bhurungamari border.
The deceased was identified as Anwar Hossain, 35, hailed from Dhaldanga village.
The body of Anwar, thrown into the river after killing, was rescued from under the Pateshwari Bridge.
Police said the body bore mark of bullet wound close to his left eye.

BSF firings kill 2 more Bangladeshis

Indian Border Security Force yesterday killed two Bangladeshis--a farmer and a cattle trader-- on the borders of Dinajpur and Chuadanga.
The deceased were identified as Yakub Ali, 27, son of Mohiz Ali of South Daudpur in Birampur upazila of Dinajpur and Badruzzaman, 40, son of Safiuddin of Nastipur in Damurhuda upazila of Chuadanga.
BSF troops from 57 Gobindapur camp opened fire on Yakub, while he was working in the field about 100 metres inside Bangladesh border at Daudpur around 10:30am, leaving him critically injured, BDR officials of 40 Battalion at Phulbari said quoting witnesses.
Yakub was rushed to Birampur Upazila Health Complex and died at about 11:55am, BDR sources added.
After the incident, the villagers burst into protest but the BDR men at Daudpur border outpost restrained the villagers.
BDR officials protested the unprovoked firing of BSF.
In another incident, BSF troops from Gobindapur camp of Nadia district opened fire on three Bangladeshi cattle traders when they were returning home through the Baradi border point of Chuadanga at about 5:00am, BDR sources said.
The shooting left Bodruzzaman dead on the spot, while two others escaped unhurt.
BSF members took away the body, sources said.
BDR of 35-rifles battalion sent letters to its counterpart protesting the killing and demanding immediate return of the body.
The killing took place at a time when the BDR-BSF summit meeting is in progress in Dhaka.

BSF to be asked to stop killing

Bangladesh and India kicked off a border conference at the Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) headquarters yesterday morning, while two Bangladeshis were shot dead by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at Chuadanga and Dinajpur frontiers.
At the three-day director general level conference between BDR and BSF, Dhaka will raise the issue of killings, wounding, and torture of unarmed Bangladeshi nationals by BSF and Indian civilians at the border.
"Once again we will request our counterpart to take measures and stop such killings and the firings," a senior BDR official told The Daily Star last night.
Four other Bangladeshis were also killed on Thursday in separate incidents of BSF firings at the border.
According to Odhikar, a human rights organisation, 50 Bangladeshis were killed by BSF firings at the border in the past six months.
An 18-member Indian delegation led by BSF Director General ML Kumawat arrived in Dhaka on Saturday afternoon for the conference, where a 22-member Bangladeshi delegation is being led by BDR DG Maj Gen Md Mainul Islam.
Discussions on strengthening joint patrols and preventing trans-border smuggling, especially of narcotics, will figure prominently at the conference. Both sides will try to strengthen the relationship through various programmes.
Bangladesh will also raise the issue of pushing in Bangla speaking Indians into Bangladesh.
Erection of fences, road construction, and excavations within 150 yards of the border line by India in the name of defence strategy, will also come into discussion, according to the discussion agenda of BDR.
Facilitating development works for prevention of land erosion by rivers is also included in the agenda.
The BSF agenda sent to BDR, emphasise on joint efforts for preventing human trafficking, and extended cooperation in curbing trans-border crimes.
India will also seek Bangladesh's cooperation in construction of its border fence, and in facilitating development works along the border.
"Joint efforts to prevent trans-border crimes like smuggling of narcotics, and formulation of a joint border management plan will also be featured in the discussion," added the BSF agenda.
A statement issued by BDR also said a joint records of discussion (JRD) will be signed by both sides on July 14.

BSF kills 3 in Benapole

Three cattle traders were shot dead by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) along Panchbhulat border in Benapole this morning.
The deceased were identified as Ahmed Ali, 24, Sabuj, 18, and Saddam Hossain, 22, all hailed from Panchbhulat village.
BDR sources said when the three cattle traders were returning home from India along with cattle BSF troops of Barnabaria camp opened fire on them, leaving them dead on the spot at about 4:00am.
BSF troops later took away the bodies to their camp.
A tense situation has been prevailing in the border areas following the incident.

The deceased was identified as Selim Islam, 35, son of Shah Alam of Islampur Dangapara village in Patgram upazila.
BSF troops of 79 Changrabandha camp opened fire on Selim while he was entering into Bangladesh from India along with cattle at about 4:00 am, killing him on the spot, according to the BDR sources.
BSF men also took away his body.
BDR sent letters to its Indian counterpart protesting the killing and demanding return of the body, said Subedar Ruhul Amin, company commander of Burimari BDR camp.
When contacted, Lt Col Golam Ambiya Mohammad Abu Saleh, commanding officer of 31 Rifles Battalion in Lalmonirhat, confirmed the killing.

Indian Border Security Force (BSF) shot two Bangladeshi men dead and critically injured two cattle traders in two separate incidents near Kurigram and Chapainawabganj borders early yesterday.
The deceased were Ayub Ali, 35, and Amir Islam, 28, sons of late Nur Mohammad of South Algar Char under Raumari upazila in Kurigram. The injured were Abdul Jalil, 28, and Abdul Kader, 32, of Chanshikari under Bholahat upazila in Chapainawabganj.
Our Kurigram correspondent reports: BDR and locals said the two brothers--Ayub Ali and Amir Islam--went to the nearest border from their house around 12:15am. On spotting them, BSF fired at least 11 rounds leaving the two spot dead on no-man's-land. BSF later dragged the body into their territory, they added.
Baliamari BOP Company Commander of BDR sent a protest letter to BSF around 6:00am asking them to return the bodies. A flag meeting between BDR and BSF was held at Algar Char border no-mans area where the police of both countries were present. In the meeting the BDR Company Commander Subedar Jalal Uddin represented Bangladesh and BSF Deputy Commander of 1 Battalion KM Mukherjee represented India.
The BDR Company Commander told The Daily Star that the Indian police returned the bodies to our police in presence of BSF and BDR personnel. The Raumari police handed over the bodies to the victims' younger brother Azizul Haque around 4:00 pm, he added.
Our Chapainawabganj correspondent reports: Two cattle traders--Abdul Jalil and Abdul Kader-- were injured as BSF of Indian Krishnapur camp opened fire around 4:00am yesterday.
The victims were admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital in a critical condition.
Acting commanding officer Major Aftab Uddin of Naogaon 43 Rifles Battalion said BSF members of Krishnapur camp fired at least 14 rounds on the men as they entered Bangladesh territory with cattle around 4:00am. They sustained bullet wounds and later were rescued and sent to hospital by the locals, he added.
BDR strongly protested the incident.

Our Satkhira correspondent reports: The BSF shot dead a Bangladeshi cattle trader early Friday on the Khalisha border.
The deceased was identified as Khalilur Rahman, 35, son of Ekramul Haque of Boalia in Kalaroa upazila.
BSF men of Khalisha camp under Swarupnagar Police Station of India opened fire on some cattle traders while they were trying to enter India with their cattle near Khalisha leaving Khalilur dead on the spot, locals said.
BSF men took away the body, sources said. When contacted Lieutenant Colonel Iqbal Azim, commanding officer of 41 rifles battalion, confirmed the news.
Our Lalmonirhat correspondent adds: BSF men killed a Bangladeshi fisherman at Daikhowa of Hatibandha upazila in Lalmonirhat near the main pillar No 903 Friday morning.
BSF took away the body to India. The victim was identified as Rashedul Islam, 30, son of Akhter Hossain of Daikhowa.
As Rashedul went to Maldah Chhora river which is located within Bangladesh territory near the main pillar No 903 in the morning to catch fish, BSF members on patrol of Lal Bazar camp of 46 No BSF Battalion opened fire on him leaving him dead on the spot.
The BSF members took away the body to India, BDR and local sources said.
Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) of Daikhowa BOP company camp sent a protest letter to Indian Lal Bazar camp BSF the same day. The letter demanded immediate handover of the body to BDR.
Referring to the BSF reply BDR said the body would be handed over to BDR after completion of its post-mortem in India.
Commanding Officer of Lalmonirhat 31 Rifles Battalion Lieutenant Colonel Golam Ambiya acknowledged the matter and said the situation on Daikhowa border is under control.
