BSF kills 1

Indian Border Security Force (BSF) shot dead a Bangladeshi cattle trader at Burimari out post of Patgram upazila in Lalmonirhat district near the main pillar no 842 early yesterday.

The deceased was identified as Selim Islam, 35, son of Shah Alam of Islampur Dangapara village in Patgram upazila.

BSF troops of 79 Changrabandha camp opened fire on Selim while he was entering into Bangladesh from India along with cattle at about 4:00 am, killing him on the spot, according to the BDR sources.

BSF men also took away his body.

BDR sent letters to its Indian counterpart protesting the killing and demanding return of the body, said Subedar Ruhul Amin, company commander of Burimari BDR camp.

When contacted, Lt Col Golam Ambiya Mohammad Abu Saleh, commanding officer of 31 Rifles Battalion in Lalmonirhat, confirmed the killing.
