A teenage Bangladeshi boy was shot dead by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at Char Majhardiar border in
the district early
yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Sujon Ali,16, son of Shukur Ali of the village under Haripur union of Poba upazila.
BSF members shot Sujon in the head, killing him on the spot, while he was accompanying several cattle traders to Bangladesh around 12:30am, said Zillur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Rajpara Police Station quoting Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) officials.
The victim's relatives had buried the body soon after his death to avoid legal hassles but BGB members dug it out around noon, Maj Hannan, general staff officer of Rajshahi sector BGB told The Daily Star.
"The body is on its way to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy," he said.
The incident has been reported to the ministries of home and foreign affairs, BGB officials said.
