BSF abducts 5 children from border

Indian Border Security Force (BSF) abducted five children from Haripur Border under Haripur upazila in Thakurgaon yesterday morning.

The victims are Pania, 15, son of Denial; Md Shahabuddin, 13, son of Abdul Kuddus; Montu, 6, son of Mohammad Nazrul Islam; Raihan, 8, son of Atabuddin and Shetabul Islam, 8, son of Joynal.

All the children are from Minapur village adjacent to the border.

BDR and local sources said the children set nets in the low-lying areas near on Haripur border Thursday evening for fishing.

On Friday morning around 6:30am the BSF members of Moldakhanda BSF camp entered no man's land and picked up the five children.

Acting Commander of BDR 2 Rifles Battalion Major Korishi told The Daily Star over mobile phone that they are corresponding with the BSF and asked them to attend a flag meeting.

BSF is yet to respond till filing of this report at 4:45pm.
