Indian Border Security Force shot dead two cattle traders, one Bangladeshi and one Indian citizen, at the Dharmagarh border in Ranishankoil upazila of Thakurgaon early yesterday.
The victims were identified as Abdul Quaium, 30, son of Abdul Kader of Kathaldangi under Haripur upazila of Thakurgaon and Mohammad Bodhu Miah,32, son of Mongolu of Dakkhin Dinajpur district in India.
Bangladesh Rifles, police and local sources said, BSF members opened fire on a group of cattle traders around 4.30am near Darmagarh border when they were trading cattle.
The Indian national Bodhu Miah died on the spot while Bangladeshi national Abdul Quaium received injuries in the BSF shooting. National Security Intelligence and BDR sources confirmed the death of Indian citizen.
Locals rescued Quaium and rushed him to Ranishankoil Health Complex where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
BSF personnel took away the body of Bodhu Miah immediately after the incident.
BDR in a letter to BSF strongly protested the unprovoked killing and asked its Indian counter part to refrain from such incident.
